Mommy's Favorites

Geoff has been encouraging me to blog lately, so I'm going to list my favorite moments so far about being a mom.

1. My favorite moment was the nurse finally laying Kenny on my chest after his delivery. I know those few pictures are always going to be most precious to me.

2. Call me crazy, but I like the middle of the night feedings, when the house is quiet and dark. I really enjoy our alone time.

3. I love to watch Kenny sleep. He looks so calm and peaceful, and I wonder what he is dreaming about.

4. It only happened once, but Kenny was staring at me during a feeding, and when I look down at him he cracked the most perfect little smile.

5. I like to call it "Woody Woodpecker", when he instinctively bobs is head back and forth looking for nipple. It is very cute.

6. "Poop face" is always good for a laugh, unless it comes about during the changing of his diaper. I have experienced that too often.

Here are a few of my favorite photos, I will try not to repeat them from ones used before.

I love the sly little look Kenny has, it fits with the shirt he is wearing.

My attempt at the sitting baby pose. Kenny is in between crys, barely keeping it together for me.

Little feet. How cute?

Kenny is 1-Month Old

Kenny was 1-month old yesterday. He's growing at an amazing rate. Here are some more pictures of our little one.

We've determined he like bath time. He doesn't seem to cry when gets a bath. Here is a happy after bath picture.

Kenny and Momma

This is the poop face Kenny makes before going to the bathroom. So if your holding him and you see this, hand him back to Heather for a changing.

Here is a yawning picture for Vicky. I know how much you like pictures of babies yawning.

I would also like to wish Vicky and Rich a happy belated anniversary. I can't believe that you've been married for 7-years now. That means my sister must be really old then. We would also like to wish Heather's Dad a happy birthday. Vick's anniversary and Mr. Hutchins birthday are on the same day.

I haven't been feeling too well lately. Thursday night I thought my throat was getting a little scratchy and I woke-up in the middle of the night with burning sinuses. I thought it was maybe allergies so I took a Zyrtec and went to work Friday. I was miserable. My boss called me during the day and after I answered the phone he said, "You sound terrible." I replied, "I feel horrible." I went to the health center after work and they asked me on a scale of 1-10 how much pain are you in. "Three, I've seen childbirth I know what a 10 looks like." The nurse said, "Good, I hate it when guys come in and are talking to me calmly saying, "I'm about a 9." They don't understand." I've been worried about getting Heather and Kenny sick. I haven't picked up Kenny for a few days now because I'm worried about breathing on him. The health center has gave me a Z-pack and it seems to be working. My sinuses are much better but I'm still very stuffy. I hope I get better soon I'd like to play with Kenny again.

Good Saturday

Kenny has a favorite hobby, eating. He has been eating and eating and eating the last two days. I feel so bad for Heather she hasn't been getting much continuous sleep. Again, she is a saint.

I also played golf for the first time in about a month today. It was hard to call what I did golfing though. After golf my mom and dad came over to help us put up our deck furniture. They really came over to see their grandchild. I know where I stand in the pecking order.

And in this corner....

Standing (well actually laying down) at 1-foot, 10-inches (he shrunk a little from birth since he's lost his fairly large conehead) and weighing in at 9-pounds and 14-onces Kenneth "The Future Terror" Lyon. So Kenny had his two-week check-up today and he has gained 1-pound and 3-ounces since birth. He's doing very well. The doctor said we should start giving him a bottle once a day. So I'll have to get up around 2 am to given Kenny the early morning feeding. Heather likes the sound of that.

Happy 4th of July!

Kenny is doing great. He had his first check-up this past Tuesday. The doctor said our baby is fine and that we shouldn’t trade him in for another one. Kenny at 4-days old has already passed his birth weight. He was 8 lbs 9 oz when he was born and at his 4-day check-up he was already 8 lbs 11 oz. They like to see a baby to get back to his birth weight in about 2-weeks. Kenny is very precocious I guess.

This is pretty much the position Kenny came out when he was born. He had his hand on his head and he had been moving round in the womb so much he put a knot in the umbilical cord.

The dogs are tired of us being home all the time.

A good way to take the energy out of Bogey is to hit golf balls in the backyard. We have to be a little careful or Bogey will run herself almost to the point of passing out.

We spent the 4th of July at Heather’s Dad’s house. It was a nice small gathering with Heather’s dad, sister, nieces, aunt, uncle, cousin, Pat, and Joanne and Henry (friends of Heather’s Dad and Pat). Kayla and Sofia switched rolls on the 4th, Sofia took a turn at being the cranky baby.

Lou Ann also holding Kenny.

Hold your breath, Kayla holding Kenny. She really likes Kenny.

Sofia quiet for a moment.

This is a picture of a bush in Heather's dad's backyard. It's been rubbed down to a nub since bears have been rubbing themselves on it.

Yesterday Heather and I went to Nana and Granddad Lyon’s house for dinner. I still think it’s funny to see my mom eating pizza. It’s such a departure for her bland British palette. I don’t know what she would eat if she was still living there. We were amazed at the number of Thai and Chinese restaurants there when we last visited.
