Little Couch Potato in Training

A couple days ago we tried to put Kenny in the BUMBO chair. He loves sitting up in it. He still needs a little support behind his head with a pillow, but, does very well keeping his head up. Today I went to work again and Geoff stayed home with Kenny. Needless to say, when I got home at 2, they were both still in their pj's. I don't think either of them minded. Kenny kept Geoff on his toes all morning, with being happy one minute, and all out screaming for food the next. I think now he understands why I don't shower sometimes till 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Here are a couple cute pictures of our little man.Sandi and Bogey were excited to see Kenny sitting on the floor.Daddy and son bonding with sports.(Notice no Mommy, because they were watching the Yankees.)Kenny sitting pretty.

All Propped up, and no where to go

Yesterday Kenny was feeling much better. He was his old happy self again after the terrible shots. Although the band-aid left a small blister on his leg. Me being the first time mommy called the doctors office, where they told me that it is OK and not to worry. The blister will go away. Maybe he is just sensitive to band-aids, and I should have taken then off earlier. Here are just a couple new pictures of our "chunky monkey".I think he looks just like Daddy in this picture.
Since he has better head control now, I tried to prop him up. He is sitting up pretty straight, but you can't tell to much in the picture.
I like him in the bright colored shirts, he looks so excited all the time.

The Shed That Is Still Standing

I spent this past Sunday helping my Dad fix his shed doors. The original construction of the shed took a good 4-months worth of weekends from my life but it's built so well you could park a car in it. The doors were a little ragged, they didn't shut quite right after years of settling, and the hinges were rusting. So we bought some wood and new heavy duty hinges and doesn't it look pretty.

Look everything is level and snug. We still have to add to latches to make everything close perfectly tight.

All my Dad has to do now is paint. I hate painting so that's all on him.

2 Month Check-up

This morning was Kenny's 2 month check-up. He is in a pretty foul mood after his shots, so I have to make this a quick update. The doctor said that you can't overfeed a baby, but saying that, he said he is the weight of most healthy 4 month old's he sees. Kenny current weight is 15lbs 11Oz's, and is 24 1/2" long. He is off the chart for weight, and in the 95Th percentile for height. From the pictures below you can see the progression of the morning.
He looks so happy to go for a car ride.Just chillin' out waiting to get weighed. This is the VERY unhappy baby after the 2 shots in the legs. I can honestly say, that I have never seen him turn that color red before. So sad :(.

Ha-Choooo!

I've discovered a sure fire way to make Kenny laugh, repeatedly fake sneezing. It's really funny you and keep him entertained for a good 5-minutes simply by doing this. After about 5-minutes he begins to get annoyed and he usually wants to eat. Eating is his favorite hobby at the moment.

Future Golf Star

Here is a picture of the Yale 2008 Flight A Club Champion along with the future winner of the 2032 US Open (he’s the one on the right). Look he already has that steely gaze just like his dad and Tiger Woods.

I played in the finals of our Club Championship this past Saturday and I was lucky enough to win my flight. I was happy that I played well and won. It did hurt that I was about 50+ yards longer off the tee than my finals opponent. I’m so thankful that I have a wonderful mum who is willing to watch our almost 2-month old while I played golf and Heather worked. I didn’t think I was going to get that far but I played my best golf of the year the last couple of rounds. Nana said Kenny was a little angel but I kind of doubt that. He’s a good baby, just not that good.

We brought Kenny to church for the first time this past Sunday. Everyone thought he was so cute. The pastor even welcomed him at the beginning of the service. I lost track of how many times we told people his name and how old he was. It's kind of funny one person would come over to see him and before they left another person would be asking the exact same questions about him. Here is a couple of pictures of Kenny in his preppy Sunday clothes.

Once we got home Bogey enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon. I think she wanted her belly rubbed.

I would like to wish my friend Carl the best of luck in his start of medical school. Today is Carl’s first official day of medical school at Southern Illinois University. My whole family is excited and happy for Carl. Carl will make a fantastic physician. He’s one of the most dedicated and hardest working people I know. Congratulations Carl, this is well deserved!

XXIX Summer Olympics

I am so thankful for the summer Olympics this year. I've been so bored with daytime TV, that I was contemplating watching soap operas again. Something that I haven't done since high school. NBC has 2 channels running all day devoted to the games. I enjoy watching sports I have never seen before, like Canoeing, Fencing, Archery, and Weightlifting. Fencing is the toughest sport so far to figure out. Both competitors react like they won after each strike, that I can't tell who really won. The hosts say how much easier it is because the have sensors in their suits, so when a strike is made their helmets light up. When I was watching, that happened to both people. I think it may take longer to learn than the 20 minutes I watched it for. I think these Olympics have been the most exciting I have ever seen. Even Kenny is excited.
I know it looks like he is asleep, but he is just so excited, he needed to watch through his eyelids for a while.:)

Here is a photo of the rest of my day, trying to keep Bogey from Frenching the baby.

Grandpa and Grammy Pat went out west again this year. One of the places was Cheyenne Frontier Days. It is a week long festival and rodeo, with concerts at night. I know when I went years ago it was a lot of fun with my highlight being a wild horse race. Wild horses are led into the stadium and cowboys have to saddle, mount, and ride them around to win. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen.Grandpa and Grammy went on vacation and all I got was this stinkn' shirt. Just kidding! It is great and fits perfectly.

Baby Giggles

We are now entering the enjoyable baby times. Kenny has begun to laugh, smile and giggle at everything that surrounds him. He loves to look at the toys and lights above his head in the play mat gym. When the lights change color, he laughs like it is the funniest thing in the world. Here is a picture of him looking at the lights.
The sheer joy on his face is so heart-melting.

The other thing that brings him happiness is when Geoff comes home from work. He is instantly intent on finding him, just by hearing his voice. Geoff gets the biggest smiles by far. Kenny loves the nose touching game and forehead kisses from Daddy. Here are just a couple pictures.

Kenny has also been sleeping better. He pretty much does 5 hours, then 3 hours. I just have to get him to sleep past 6 a.m., then I'll be happy. Also, his nighttime feedings have been quicker, with him falling asleep faster. But, with the good, comes the bad. OK not bad, just tiring. Kenny has been awake most of the day, with few very short naps. All he wants to do when he is awake is feed. Which makes getting things done during the day next to impossible.

Yesterday, I went back to work for a couple hours, and Kenny spent the afternoon at Nana's house. When I left him, I assured her that he would sleep very good for her, since he was awake almost all morning with me. Needless to say, he didn't sleep too much.

A couple weeks ago, I told the cleaners that I would start working again this coming Saturday. I had all intentions of Geoff being home, but, he has made it to the last day of a golf tournament at Yale. He wasn't confident making it through that far. Last Saturday, both him and his opponent had a bad round, but Geoff ended up winning. Then Sunday, he had a great round and beat the other guy pretty easily. We are lucky that Nana was available, and excited to watch Kenny. I just hope he is starting to nap better by then, and is not too much trouble.

Where does the time go?

It has been 6 weeks since little Kenny's arrival, and I have no idea where the time went. I'm sure most of the time was sitting on the couch feeding him, and another small chunk was changing diapers. But it is all worth it in the end. We have a beautiful happy baby. As I say that he is waking up and wining in the living room. Kenny loves the bouncy chair that Auntie Vicky was so generous to let him have. He will not go in anything else during his day naps. I just wish the bubbling fish lasted longer. It usually takes 3 button pushes for him to fall asleep.

Kenny was recently sent some wonderful gifts from Great Nana and Great Auntie Pauline in England. I didn't think I would be dressing him in them already. He is growing so fast, that this week I changed his size to the 3-6 month clothes. He looked like a stuffed sausage in his 0-3 clothes.
This is the outfit from Great Nana Shaw, the sweater was hand knit and fits wonderfully. This outfit was from Great Auntie Pauline. The bootie are still a little big.
Bogey wanted her picture taken also. Kenny saw her and was reaching out to touch her, it was so cute.Kayla and Kenny

One more reason for the blog today was to show with pictures how much Kenny has changed in a month and a half. Here he was at birth. Here he is today. What a little chunker, huh?

Shark Weekend!

We had a very restful weekend. Heather, Kenny, and I didn’t leave the house that much. I played golf early Saturday and finished just before the massive thunderstorms that rolled through. It was amazing how quickly the storms arrived. After only 15-minutes of rain the entire course was deemed unplayable.

So it rained so much I didn’t have to mow the lawn when I got home Saturday. Heather and I laid around the living room watching all of our Discovery channel Shark Week shows. We DVR’ed a bunch of different shows about sharks. One of the effects of this is I don’t think Heather will ever go in the ocean again. The shows on the Great White Sharks off the South African coast are amazing. The Great Whites can jump out of the water by a good 10+ feet when attacking seals.

Kenny spent most of Saturday recovering from a slight cold. I’ve been pretty beat up with a sinus/congestion thing. I passed it onto Heather who I think passed it on to Kenny. He’s sounding quite a bit better now. Watching babies sneeze is cute and concerning at the same time. I’ll post some more pictures shortly.
