Kenny Out to Eat!

Heather had last night off from work so we decided to go to Friday's for dinner. We haven't been there in a long, long time and I wanted some potato skins. We brought plenty of food for Kenny. You can witness Kenny's two-fisted eating technique here:

Here is Kenny with his Sophie's Choice, he has his bottle in his mouth but he wants to eat some of the food he has in his hand. This video isn't nearly as funny as the first time he did it. Heather and I were cracking up watching him try to figure out how to get the food in his mouth without removing the bottle.

These were taken with my camera phone so they are pretty blurry. The good news is that we finally go our good camera back. We had a knob fall off so we brought it back to Best Buy for repair. They took two plus weeks to repair it and when we got it home they had broken something else with it. It was only running off the internal memory and wouldn't recognize a memory card. So we brought it back again and they only kept if for a little over a week this time.

Why Kenny Is a Yankees Fan

I've known this for awhile now but I forgot to share it with everyone. Kenny shares a birthday with the current Yankees captain - Derek Jeter. Can't you see the resemblance of the two future baseball greats?

Kenny is the third picture - I know it's hard to tell the difference between the two. Athletically they have so much in common, plus women love Derek Jeter almost as much as Kenny.

I think Kenny is going to have to be a great athlete, he also shares a birthday with arguably the greatest female athlete ever - Babe Didrickson Zaharias. So a great golfer, track star, softball/baseball player, diver, olympian,.... also shares a birthday with Kenny. My bet is that Kenny will be a baseball player since he shares a birthday with the creator of baseball Abner Doubleday. No pressure Kenny, you can be whatever you want (except a Red Sox fan).

What's Up With That Hair!

Heather and Kenny had some fun with Kenny's hair during bath time. We're thinking of giving Kenny that 80's skater hair.

Look at what I purchased at Walmart for only $1.99/lb. So he cost me about $56.

It appears that fruit is Kenny's favorite food. Fruit never gets fed to the dogs. Other things like toast and Cheerios will occasionally find the floor.

In my life-long quest to find the perfect burger, Heather, Kenny, and I tried another famous burger joint, Ted's.

Ted's is unique in that they steam their burgers and cheese instead of grilling them. The burgers were juicy and extremely hot, but they were lacking. Other than being extremely hot from the steaming they lacked flavor. The steamed cheese was weird and Heather couldn't force it down. The cheese was very stringy like you would find on pizza. They say that the burgers are healthier since they are steamed, the fat supposedly drips off, I think all the flavor gets steamed away also. I don't believe they are healthier than a regular burger, here is a picture of a regular customer as proof.

We also did not like the fact that the burger was closer to a meatball instead of a patty. So my burger ranking still remains 1) Five-Guys-Burgers and Fries 2) Fuddruckers, (3 does it really matter everyone else is so far behind. Next on my list is Louis Lunch in New Haven. Louis' is registered in the National Archives as the origin of the hamburger. So many burgers so little time.

Mommy the Robin Rescuer

Sorry for my blogging hiatus. It has been well over a month since I have. Every day is much the same as the last. Except for Kenny. He is learning new things everyday. Yesterday I was singing songs from different toys, and he would crawl over and push the button on the right toy. I was amazed that he knew which tunes went to the different toys. He will wiggle his tongue at you when you ask him where it is. He knows where my nose is, but not his yet. He is starting to stand on his own, but still scared of letting go to long, and terrified to walk, even when holding on to my hand. I enjoy staying home with him to see how much he is changing.

Our last trip to Ikea, got this cool igloo tent for $10. Kenny loves to play catch me if you can crawling down the hall till we all end up in the tent in his room.

It's Bogey's favorite game too.

Kenny just relaxing on the floor.
This morning was very exciting. I was letting the dogs out the back door. Birds started swooping and squawking Bogey. I yelled at her to get her down the stairs when I saw the problem. We keep the screens for our gazebo zipped shut so the bugs don't go in. One of our baby robins had left the nest and got caught inside the gazebo. I was trying to go around and unzip all the screens with birds screaming and swooping. The baby bird finally got out and disappeared off the deck. I thought it may have fallen, but I couldn't find it anywhere. After my shower I was looking out the window.

I know it's hard to see, but there's my rescued baby robin. there is still one more in the nest, so I'm not shutting the screens again.

Well, I just heard the OOOH, and AAAHH! of Kenny's wake up chant. Gotta go finish getting ready.

Nothing much but Ice Cream

We've been taking it easy since Kenny's party, just recovering. A few days later we took Kenny for a walk and just happened to find a Dairy Queen. So we had to stop in and get a little something. Kenny really enjoyed my Blizzard as you can see. He seems to like ice cream from a spoon more than a cone.

"Dad where are you going with my ice cream?"

"Why are you laughing at me? Do I have something on my face?"

My parents were wonderful and watched our little one this past Saturday so we could go see Jim Gaffigan at Foxwoods. I was happy to get a Fuddrucker's Burger before the show. We also saw the new MGM at Foxwoods which is pretty impressive.

Luckily Fuddruckers does not sell Hot Pockets-

Sorry for the lack of pictures lately. Heather broke our camera (with the help of Kenny). So we are just waiting to get it back from Best Buy. Thankfully it's still under the service contract.

Birthday Party Over Here!

Kenny's Birthday Party was today. We had a great time. It was so nice to get everyone together. I don't know if you can believe that Kenny is a year old, Heather and I are still having a tough time accepting this. It only seems like yesterday that we were bringing a little sleeping baby home. He still gets sleepy, this photo is proof.

Kenny is usually awake and happy (knock on wood - we have a baby with a wonderful temperament for the most part).

This is my favorite picture of Kenny with Grandpa.

Heather made Kenny's first birthday cake. It came out really well.

"Why are you all singing?"

We'll, I guess I'll try it. What's this called cake? Yeah, I've never had cake before.

Yaaahhhaaaa.

I took this from Heather's favorite comedian Jim Gaffigan. We're going to see him next Saturday at Foxwoods. Here is a brief clip.

I love Gaffigan, it seems like most of his jokes are about my favorite thing - food. He loves bacon and cake - who doesn't?

Kenny got lots of gifts. The early favorite seems to be his school bus. He quieted down as soon as he got it.

A side effect of having this many people over is that Bogey gets exhausted. She runs around so much see doesn't move the rest of the day. This is a picture of how she has spent the last 3 hours.

"Oh, my aching paws!"

Thank-you to everyone who was able to come. Thank-you for all the gifts also. Kenny really needed a few more toys. He barely has anything to play with. I mean his two favorite toys at the moment are a couple of plastic bowls. Hopefully I won't blow all of Kenny's birthday money next week at the casino :)
