Belated Birthday to Me

Last weekend was a belated birthday weekend for me. We went to my parents' house Saturday for dinner. We had a good time and got to see Vicky, Rich, Becca, and Richie. They had a great time riding their bikes and running up and down the pile of soil my parents have in their backyard. These pictures were lifted from my sister's blog (http://vickyrichbeccamorgan.blogspot.com/)

"Why are my cousins acting so weird?"

Then Sunday we went to Salmen, CT were Heather's Dad, Pat, April, Sofia, and Kayla were camping. The kids had a great time going down to the lake. Kenny was suppose to only put his feet in the water but he tried diving in. It doesn't appear that Kenny has any fear of water.

Heather and April brought the kids to the Big-E last Friday. They got Kenny's emergency ID card updated. Kenny was as Heather likes to say, "A Mr. Potato Head" last year. He was 26-inches and 17-pounds last year.

This year he weighed in at a hefty 32-pounds at a height of 34-inches. Kenny weighs 8-pounds more than his petite cousin Sofia.

A couple of weekends ago Heather and I took Kenny for a walk. This was a real walk because Kenny wanted to walk and not to be pushed in a stroller. We went to Quinnipiac University.

"Hey ladies, here is the world's youngest freshman. Oh ya, I learned how to walk this month."

"My mom helps me sometimes."

Kenny enjoyed flirting with all the pretty college girls. He is what we call a chick magnet.

All good things must come to an end....

Like all good things our vacation has come to and end. We spent the last week on Cape Cod. We used my parent's timeshare which is very nice.

The view outside our window overlooking the putting green (Yes, a putting green. I was happy.)

The indoor/outdoor pool which everyone enjoyed.

Heather and Kenny enjoying the comfy couch.

A look at the very calm sea early in the week.

A view up the coast from our place.

Kenny and mom having fun on the beach.

"Great my son is going to be photographed with his tongue out for the next ten years."

We had a nice playground near us. Kenny enjoyed the monkey bars....

....the jungle gym.....

....the slide....

Do you know the muffin man? The muffin man? THE MUFFIN MAN! This is a classic line from Shrek.

We found Drury Lane, but we did not find the muffin man.

We did find a great ice cream place and the end of the Drury Lane though, the Sundae School.

They have one of Heather's new favorite flavors - Shark Bite. It's black raspberry ice cream with white chocolate chips. It was tasty. Shark Bite is a funny name consider Great White Sharks have been spotted off the coast of the Cape this past week. I was surprised Heather even put her toes in the water after hearing this.

This was the only Great White I could find. I tried to feed Kenny to it but the shark spit him out. He was too big.

Well, when I go on vacation the first thing that I do is to try and find the best burger place. We tried Woodies in Orleans. It has very good char-grilled burgers and hand-cut french fries. This was a very good burger but a step below 5-Guys. I'm still searching for the ultimate burger. 5-Guys would be the ultimate burger if they were only char-grilled. The search continues.

After going to Woodies, we were half-way to Provincetown so we decided to swing by. We went to the Cape Cod National Sea Shore Park. There was a nice beach and many, many walking/biking trails. We took a nice long walk to work off some of the burgers.

The next day we went to the ZooQuarium. We had a nice time seeing all the animals. Kenny like petting the Chinchilla.

We didn't get to pet the Bobcat.

"Hey, Dad there is some weird looking dogs on the other side of this fence."

"Smell my feet turtle."

"Mom can we take it home?"

This was pretty cool - a blue lobster. They are very rare, about 1 in 20 million lobsters is blue.

Mom and Kenny on a dolphin statue.

Heather really liked this picture of Kenny. Kenny found it to be more fun to play underneath the end table.

Whenever you go to the beach you have to find some seafood. We went to the Kreme N' Kone for fish and chips. Honestly we didn't eat the entire trip, even if it seems that way in this blog.

As you can see it wasn't very good. Honestly it was better than Lenny and Joe's.

Kenny has decided to start walking much more over vacation. Here are some action pics.

Kenny was helping Dad practice his putting.

"Dad the ball is supposed to go in here."

We also went to the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory. Here is the extent of the pictures we were allowed to take. They don't allow pictures to be taken of their top-secret potato chip making machines.

We did get to enjoy the pool a few times. Doesn't Kenny look like he's having fun?

A picture of me and a pirate lady. This carving reminded me of a particular line Will Ferrell had in the movie, "Anchorman, The Legend of Ron Burgundy." Google or Youtube it if you dare.

We forgot to take pictures of everyone together on the beach until the last day we were there. So here are some pictures of us on the beach with 30+ mph winds.

Here is a few miscellaneous pictures of Kenny with his new Monkey pants. Heather saw them and decided they were too cute to pass-up.

Kenny was a little hungry on the car ride home. Does he look hungry to you?

Kenny has had his first run-in with the law. We were home for a little while and Kenny had taken the phone off the end table. He was playing with the phone on the floor for a few seconds while we went into the kitchen. I took the phone from Kenny and put it back on the charger. The phone rang about 10-seconds later. "Hello this is the Meriden Police Department. Do you have a child in the house?"

"Yes, my son is 14-months old."

"Oh, that makes sense he was talking to me for 20-seconds or so. We just needed to make sure everything was ok."

I thought I was going to spend sometime in jail tonight. Heather woke-up Friday morning with a slightly sore jaw. She went to the Health Plan and they said it was slightly inflamed and she should rest, take ibuprofen, and put heat on it. Heather isn't moving her jaw much because it's sore. She's talking a little like a boxer after a bad fight.

So we put Kenny to sleep and the dogs are beginning to calm down for the night. At around 8:30 there is a loud knock on the door. It's the Meriden Police making sure that Kenny's earlier call was a false alarm. The dogs are going crazy and Kenny has woken-up screaming. Great they are going to see my unruly dogs, screaming child, wife with a stiff jaw after a 911-call - I thought I was being set-up for a domestic violence charge. Luckily everything was fine. We are going to have to start hiding our phones better.
